Writing Skills

We have been developing our knowledge of sentences - simple, complex and compound. In addition we have been looking at ways to include WOW words in our writing (words that are awesome and make you say wow). Here are some examples of our work......

The rocky cliff face crumbled beneath my feet as I clambered down the ragged mountain.Hesitantly I swung my weight down to the ground, one false move and I’d be gone forever.Suddenly the rocks beneath me gave way.I grabbed the rocks and clung on for life.

Rocks crumbled beneath my feet. The fragile rock turned into ice as we approached the big drop. I knew this was the end as my friend slipped below me. In the distance I saw my destination. Thud! My friend stumbled again.

This gruelling trip to school is digging in my nerves every step I take. I held on for my life on the rocky cliff. As the adults disappear in the distance it was up to me to help the neglected five year old Ryan. I called for my friend but…  my heart sank as my friend slipped. I knew that was the last time I would see him alive. Tears slid down my face as I watched him fall. I had to keep my tears in, in front of Ryan. It felt like I had a heart attack. The young child nearly fainted but I had to lie that he was alive but injured. I felt guilty and bad saying this. Ryan and I both gingerly went across the mountain together.
